SS Tier – Call of Duty Tier Lis
We have mentioned the best COD games that we think are still unrivaled. We find the video, audio, and overall gameplay value of this Call of Duty game a classic success that was too amazing for its time and still holds a decent value in the long-running series.
COD Modern Warfare 2 Game

COD Modern Warfare 2 is by far one of the best COD games in the long-running franchise so we mention that in tier ss Call of Duty Tier List. Arguably, many COD fans of the series to date love this installment the most. We think the audio, story, and overall gameplay actual feel were some of the many reasons COD Modern Warfare 2 ranks as a top-tier Call of Duty game.
Although Call of Duty Modern Warfare laid the groundwork for an incredible story, COD MW2 went further and delivered an even more interesting campaign. Players can view different environments and settings in the game where the same game variety was not offered in previous installments.
In addition, the developer of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 also put a lot of emphasis on the audio department of the game. Music composers Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe composed the best soundtrack for the game.
As well as creating a great soundtrack, a lot of hard work went into creating unique sounds for each of the weapons in the game. Firing each weapon, whether silent or not, produces a unique sound, giving each weapon an extraordinary experience when using it in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
Overall, for an FPS game that focused on the small details of the video, audio, and more, Call of Duty MW2 was an example of what shooters should be like. This is why many Call of Duty veterans consider COD MW2 the greatest of all time to this day.
S Tier – Call of Duty Tier List
All COD games that we have mentioned in our Call of Duty Tier List of tier-S are near perfection. Even if these video game installments managed to deliver top-notch quality and tick all boxes. Still, we also think they missed the mark by a small margin and have a flaw or 2 attached to them.
COD Modern Warfare 3 Game

The storyline, campaign, and how each mission expands into the next are just some of the reasons we think COD Modern Warfare 3 is famous. Call of Duty MW3 is the epic conclusion to the Modern Warfare series of Call of Duty games, and it closes the series in a great way.
To our surprise, some experienced Call of Duty players thinks that the Call of Duty MW3 is even better than the Call of Duty M2. However, we feel that the story and campaign could have been presented a little better.
Also, we believe that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 was originally Call of Duty MW2.1; There were obvious changes between the 2, but not enough to require a sequel. Our personal favorite is the action sequences that we get again and again while playing campaign mode missions.
Overall, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 ties the 3 MW games together nicely and provides a fitting conclusion to the saga. Sure, there were a few drawbacks here and there, like some repetitive sections.
However, COD MW3 was a better game when it comes to improving aspects of the previous installment and ending the series together.
COD Black Ops 2 Game

We think COD Black Ops 2 deserves a spot on our ranked-S COD tier list. Call of Duty BO2 brought a lot of good things to the franchise, and despite the many bugs that came with the game, the overall delivery experience was solid.
The Call of Duty BO2 had a hefty amount of QTE in the beginning, which was not bad. However, many players found it a bit tiring to always stay away from QTE. For our part, we liked this addition to COD Black Ops 2; It raised the level of immersion for us.
Also, we think the overall setup of Call of Duty Black Ops 2 was great. Players had to return to some of the more popular events. Combat and Riding missions were also some of the great memories that COD Black Ops 2 has left in its players.
In previous games, players did not have the freedom to choose their in-game weapons before starting a mission. However, this changed in Call of Duty BO2 as it allowed players to choose the weapon they want and then start a mission.
Overall, if you put a few negatives aside, COD Black Ops 2 was an excellent first-person shooter for its time.
A Tier – Call of Duty Tier List
The tier list Call of Duty games we have included in our tier-A has by far the most engaging campaign in the series. Many players to date remember the moments they played during various missions of each Call of Duty game listed below. It is because these COD video games brilliantly capture the significance of engaging, which also left an ultimate impact on how the story of these COD games unfolded.
COD 2 Game

Based on the central events of World War II, Call of Duty 2 is the most memorable COD game ever. The story or campaign mode set up a World War I environment that was not a common depiction in COD video games.
Call of Duty 2’s campaign mode feels a little less modern because it does not really capture the cinematic vibe. However, by today’s standards, Call of Duty 2 still occupied a decent campaign mode, which focuses heavily on the story, excellent control mechanisms, and other small details.
Our favorite moments from Call of Duty 2 are charging up at Point du Hoc on D-Day and attacking El Daba as the Desert Rats. The overall and essence vibe that Call of Duty 2’s missions had was almost perfect. Of course, there was no sprint feature in the game, so combat felt sluggish most of the time. However, taking things slow also contributed to a positive point for the game.
Recent COD games had shooting mechanics that relied heavily on gear and perks. However, with Call of Duty 2 it was different. Players had to be a good target to take out enemies. It was a perfect experience for the time that Call of Duty 2 was released.
Overall, COD 2 picked up on the pieces from the first game and improved on almost every corner to deliver a polished and refined sequel to Call of Duty.
COD World At War Game

The campaign and story narrative has always been a strong point for COD games. However, the plot sometimes becomes linear and predictable. You will always have the feeling of performing some secret mission.
When COD World at War has released this sentiment was challenged and completely changed. This installment of the series takes control away from you, giving you the feeling that you are in a war and you would not always be in control of the situation.
A longer campaign was another point in favor of Call of Duty World At War’s campaign mode. You will hardly feel less in the story mode after you have finished the World At War campaign.
The characters featured in the missions were integrated and memorable quite well into the game’s story. Additionally, the historical accuracy of COD World at War was excellent as well.
Thinking of a 2008 video game to offer content that was an effort worth appreciating later installments in the series missed. Overall, we think COD World At War delivered a pretty exceptional campaign mode, good cutscenes, Video and audio controls.
All these points combined make World At War a great sequel to the WWII based COD video game. WAW was arguably so good that many players returned to Call of Duty 2’s campaign mode, taking it in with the spirit of the COD WWII setting.
COD 4: Modern Warfare Game

COD 4: Modern Warfare was the first Call of Duty game to introduce a major change to the way health improvements work. This installment in the franchise tried to introduce a lot of new things to the table and, for better or worse, managed to reintroduce a system that was appreciated by Call of Duty players.
For the 2007 video game, Call of Duty 4: MW worked its magic with its intense battles and Crossfire elements. The events during the main in-game COD missions kept players on their toes. In addition, the graphics were a nice enhancement compared to the previous iterations of the COD video game.
Call of Duty 4: MW was also a step forward in the way shooter games were released in the decade. Most FPS games released in the mid-2000s focused heavily on the World War I scenario. However, that changed when COD 4: Modern Warfare was released. His story was fresh and he had an idea of what war could be like in the present times.
While most FPS games created amazing stories, COD 4: Modern Warfare tried to shake things up and make its campaign more believable. There are not many great story-focused video games that don’t show Russia as the bad guy, and Call of Duty 4: MW was probably the first.
Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Game

After the COD Modern Warfare remaster, the release of COD Cold War is a must-cool experience. Like most of the great Call of Duty games, this entry in the franchise paid due attention to its campaign and amazing mission design.
The general atmosphere of warfare in the Cold War era pushed back the style of warfare in the early 1980s; However, the portrayal of the characters in the script and their involvement in the story reflects the actual efforts of the game developers.
The story of the COD Black Ops Cold War keeps the fluidity and immersion of the narrative flow. Its challenges, however, are many choices that make you repeat certain missions or parts of them to experiment with different in-game decisions.
These challenges also pose for COD Cold War’s small campaign size. By revisiting selected missions and dedicating yourself to looking for alternate outcomes, it gives you a sense of adventure and accomplishment.
The soundtrack of COD Black Ops Cold War and the addition of interesting character mission design are the icing on the cake. Regardless of weapons, vehicles, or movement sound types, you will find that every section of the game has been given its due attention in this in-game department.
Other Best Call of Duty teir list games from tier A are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, and Call of Duty Black Ops.
B Tier – Call of Duty Tier List
The COD video games that we have listed in our Call of Duty Tier List-B stand in the middle ground. They are not the best in the lot but also not the worst. Even if you play these COD games today, some of you will have mixed feelings after playing their campaign in-game modes.
To us, the story mode of these Call of Duty games was not the top ones, not underwhelming. Still, we think these tier-B Call of Duty video games are pretty decent.
COD Vanguard Game

COD Vanguard brings the setting of the story to the World War II era. The main selling point of Call of Duty Vanguard, as advertised, was playing a variety of characters with interesting backgrounds and stories.
It sounded like a great idea in theory; However, when COD Vanguard launched, its campaign mode didn’t live up to expectations. We have a feeling it didn’t even come close to COD Modern Warfare 2 if the WWII setting remains a common factor.
We believe there are several major issues with the COD Vanguard campaign. For starters, most parts of the game keep you from exploring and basically only ask you to go in one direction. It really kills the vibe of finding and searching a potential item or easter egg.
Second, there are times when the campaign throws three or four cut scenes one after the other, breaking all levels of immersion while the players control the character.
COD Vanguard’s campaign mode also removes the choice options; There is a distinct lack of options when it comes to navigating missions independently.
The only good things we see in this picture are the excellent sound design, modern graphics, and interesting backstories of the characters. Despite the small perks the game offers, the gameplay is far from perfect, and that’s why we think COD Vanguard deserves a ranked-B COD tier list.
COD Black Ops 3 Game

Although COD Black Ops 3 is the successor to Call of Duty BO2, the installment didn’t offer a better story than its predecessor. Regardless, several new changes and additions have made Call of Duty Black Ops 3 one of the best Call of Duty video games of all time.
The game mechanics and levels in Call of Duty BO3 were the icing on the cake. Sure, the campaign was a little confusing, but it made up for other things, like adding cyber capabilities. This opened up a whole new range of possibilities for taking enemies down instead of simply shooting them with melee weapons or pistols.
Arguably, many think the story was vague and light. However, we think the story of COD Black Ops 3 was good, as it included two storylines taking place at the same time in the game. The actual game is basically a large-scale representation of the events that happened before. But yes, the story in the COD universe was a bit off and felt unnecessary at times.
Overall, we think that the new additions and minor changes introduced by COD Black Ops 3 have made it one of the best Call of Duty games out there. If Treyarch had handled storytelling and story delivery a little better, Call of Duty BO3 could have been a gem of an FPS video game.
COD World War II Game

After a very long time, the COD series of video games made a return to world war 2 roots by launching COD World War II. The game’s campaign mode was good; It’s not the best on the lot and it certainly isn’t the worst. However, some issues prevented the story mode from becoming one of the best in the COD video game series.
To begin with, the campaign mode was brief; It was about 5 to 7 hours. Even if you played the game on the highest difficulty, it won’t take you long to finish the game. Also, this time the plus point of the WWII setting was blessed with next-gen graphics.
Previous Call of Duty games that had WWII settings either had no cut-scenes or had little graphical fidelity. However, that changed with World War II’s COD. Smooth, high-end graphics raised the level of immersion.
Another great thing we liked about COD World War II was that the game’s action sequences felt like those of Saving Private Ryan and the Band of Brothers. He had a great script and kept the players hooked.
However, the linearity, mission design, and overall vibe of playing each story mission felt repetitive and dry. That’s why we think Call of Duty World War II is on our ranked-B tier list call of duty.
COD 3 Game

COD 3, the successor to Call of Duty 2, which was developed by Infinity Ward, did not reach the level of fame it had hoped for. The campaign of this installment of Call of Duty was also set in the era of World War II, a fine setting. However, COD 3 developed by Treyarch led to rapid development of the game. Call of Duty 3 was released almost eight months after its prequel.
Although the story setting was similar to COD 2, the Call of Duty game series introduced several COD 3 features that were absent. For starters, COD 3 introduced the much-needed Sprint feature, which allows you to pass through areas that add to the fighting spirit.
There were other obvious minor differences that made COD 3 a proper sequel to COD 2. Unfortunately, the clash of Axis power against the Allies and the general WWII setting this time around was not engaging enough. So we think the COD 3 campaign falls somewhere in between; It’s not over the top and it certainly isn’t the worst.
C Tier – Call of Duty Tier List
The COD games we have included in our tier-C have an underwhelming story. Their campaign is definitely not the worst among all Call of Duty games, but it certainly is not the most enjoyable gameplay.
We also think the main reason for the least impressive campaign was because their in-game predecessor had a complex campaign, which developers wanted to actually correct, and they made simple to understand, small, but can say impactful campaigns.
COD Advanced Warfare Game

COD Advanced Warfare featured a fast-paced combat system, a new addition from its predecessors. The introduction of new tech-based gear in Call of Duty Advanced Warfare was also welcome. Although there were some issues with the game’s campaign mode, if it had been handled better, the game would have left behind an impressive story mode.
For starters, the main problem we realized in COD Advanced Warfare was the predictable campaign mode. Completely shoot the players running the campaign. Even if you play story mode now, the predictable and cliche story will prompt you to stop playing campaign mode.
COD Infinite Warfare Game

COD Infinite Warfare has an average campaign. However, there were some memorable characters in the story, which made Call of Duty Infinite Warfare a good video game to play.
The game’s description indicates that Infinity Ward attempted to bring the character of the game to life. However, for the next generation of COD video games, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare didn’t offer as much as it should have.
For starters, most FPS games on next-gen consoles feature destructible environments, buildings, and walls. Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, being the next generation Call of Duty game, lacked this concept.
Arguably, even if the game’s story left an impact the first time you played it. The problem that many people realize afterward is that it’s much easier to forget than the stories, campaigns, and epic game moments of other Call of Duty games.
One of the best things about COD Infinite Warfare was its visuals, art style, and story. The characters had a sense of realism and purpose during the mission.
They were not cast in the game’s story without purpose, and he had a role to play. This was one of the great features that players have been waiting for in COD games since Call of Duty Black Ops 3.
D Tier – Call of Duty Tier List
We have listed only one COD video game in Call of Duty Tier List-D because, to us, this is the only Call of Duty game that failed to tick all boxes when it comes to delivering an engaging campaign. Also, the tier-D is our last tier of the Call of Duty Tier List.
COD Ghosts Game

We believe that the campaign length of COD Ghosts was seemed too short, compared to the games released before Ghosts. Second, Call of Duty Ghost’s campaign Veteran Mode also didn’t offer the level of challenge that previous Call of Duty games had thrown at players. It felt more like a breeze than a challenge to complete the game’s campaign mode on veteran difficulty.
Even the introduction of relays as a new feature in COD Ghosts was not put to good use. The whole purpose of using a relay turned to dust when you found out that it would be shot, which made you afraid to use it too often.
The top-down movement also made the fight for the federation a piece of cake. Basically, you can melee most opponents, making the overall campaign experience a lot smoother.
Overall, the campaign felt dry and the overall story feel was a lifeless experience. Even if you played and finished the story mode, you will find that it is very easy to forget the missions in it. We think the story of COD Ghosts leans a bit more towards the general side, keeping the expectations of following the Modern Warfare trilogy.
The developers pitched the game to be around a character that wasn’t even in the game. Sadly, it was hard to see the COD Ghosts campaign fail in the same domain for which most Call of Duty games are remembered.
