Mortal Kombat, a game series that has enthralled fans for decades, is known for its intense combat, unique characters, and memorable moments. One of the most anticipated additions to the series has been the inclusion of Jean-Claude Van Damme, a renowned action star. Fans have been clamoring for his appearance ever since the game’s inception in the 90s. Their wishes are finally coming true with the release of Mortal Kombat 1’s Van Damme DLC skin for Johnny Cage.

The first glimpse of this much-awaited skin was unveiled in a recent interview with the series creator, Ed Boon. During an episode of “Hot Ones,” a show where guests eat progressively spicier chicken wings, Boon discussed the journey of bringing Van Damme into the Mortal Kombat universe. The snippet showed a young Van Damme, cheekily flipping off Johnny Cage, with Sonya Blade by his side.

Ed Boon shared that the inclusion of Van Damme in Mortal Kombat feels like a “full circle moment.” Initially, the game developers had envisioned creating an arcade game centered around Van Damme, inspired by his roles in movies like “Bloodsport” and “Universal Soldier.” However, for reasons unknown, the idea didn’t materialize. Boon reminisced, “We actually wanted to see the words ‘Van Damme’. So we called his people, and we were like ‘we want to make a game based on Van Damme’, and I don’t know if he declined or just never got to him or something like that.” After several attempts, the team finally struck gold. Not only will players see Van Damme’s likeness in the game, but they will also hear his voice as he takes on the role of Johnny Cage.

In related news, Mortal Kombat 1 is also set to reintroduce Nitara, a character who hasn’t been playable for 17 years. Adding to the star-studded cast, Megan Fox will voice Nitara. Fans have warmly received her return, with many expressing hopes of seeing her pirate look from Mortal Kombat: Armageddon make a comeback.

In conclusion, Mortal Kombat 1 is shaping up to be a treat for both old and new fans. With the inclusion of iconic stars like Jean-Claude Van Damme and Megan Fox, the game promises to deliver an unforgettable experience.
